We're recruiting for an established precision engineering business looking for an Account Manager / Estimator to join their commercial team. This is a varied role where you'll manage customer accounts, prepare quotations, and act as the key link between customers and production.
The Role
You'll be responsible for managing customer enquiries from initial RFQ through to quotation, ensuring customers receive an excellent service while producing accurate, competitive estimates.
- Managing customer accounts and building long-term relationships.
- Reviewing and responding to RFQs (Request for Quotations).
- Producing quotations for both new and existing customers.
- Interpreting engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Costing machined components, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Liaising with Production, Engineering and Purchasing to ensure accurate pricing and lead times.
- Following up quotations and supporting the conversion of enquiries into orders.
- Identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts and develop new business.
- Keeping quotation records and CRM systems up to date.
- Providing exceptional customer service throughout the sales process.
About You
We're looking for someone who understands engineering and enjoys working with customers. Ideally you'll have:
- Previous experience in an Estimator, Account Manager, Internal Sales or Quotations role.
- An engineering or manufacturing background.
- Experience handling RFQs and preparing technical quotations.
- Knowledge of precision machined components and manufacturing processes.
- An understanding of engineering drawings and materials.
- Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communication and relationship-building skills.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple enquiries.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems would be advantageous.
