A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Programmer to join a well-established composites manufacturing business specialising in large-scale structures and advanced engineering solutions. With multiple sites and a strong presence across sectors including marine, defence, aerospace and UAVs, this organisation continues to invest in innovation, technology and people.
The Role
As a CNC Programmer, you will play a key role in producing accurate and efficient off-line CNC machining programmes to support a busy CNC centre. You will work with a range of materials including foam, wood, textiles and tooling boards, using 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machinery, textile cutters and waterjets.
This position requires strong CAD/CAM experience, attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with operators, engineers and wider production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce, edit and optimise CNC programmes using CAD/CAM software (Alphacam or similar).
- Create and update work instructions, drawings and cut/pack documentation.
- Design jigs, fixtures, tooling and shop aids for CNC operations.
- Support CNC operators with programming queries, troubleshooting and verification.
- Review and implement feedback to improve machining strategies and processes.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers, including attending site visits where required.
- Assist with cost estimation for new projects.
- Prepare job packs and documentation for production.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
- Report directly to the Operations Manager.
Skills & Experience Needed
- Minimum 2 years' experience in 3-axis CAM programming (essential).
- Proven 5-axis CAM programming experience (essential).
- Proficiency with Alphacam, Hexagon products or similar CAM software.
- Strong understanding of 2D and 3D CAD.
- Solid knowledge of CNC machining practices for foam, wood and textile materials.
- Strong problem-solving ability and communication skills.
- Positive, proactive and methodical approach.
Additional Requirements
This role is subject to a DBS check and, where applicable, National Security Vetting (NSV).
