We are recruiting for an experienced Service & Commissioning Engineer to join a well‑established Smoke, Fire & Security specialist. This role would suit an engineer with strong commissioning, servicing, and fault‑finding experience across life safety systems, particularly within smoke control, fire safety, and associated control systems.

The Role

You will be responsible for commissioning, servicing, maintaining, and fault‑finding smoke ventilation and life safety systems across commercial and residential sites, ensuring systems operate in line with regulations and design intent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commissioning smoke ventilation systems, including smoke/fire dampers, smoke extract fans, shafts, and control panels
  • Programming, testing, and validating cause & effect in line with engineering drawings and fire strategies
  • Servicing, fault finding, and maintaining smoke, fire, and associated life safety systems
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive call‑outs
  • Electrical testing, wiring, and fault diagnosis of control panels and field devices
  • Completing commissioning sheets, service reports, and compliance documentation
  • Conducting dynamic risk assessments and working in line with health & safety requirements
  • Liaising professionally with clients, site teams, and project stakeholders

About You

  • Background as a Service or Commissioning Engineer within Smoke, Fire, Security, or Life Safety systems
  • Experience working with smoke control systems, fire dampers, AOVs, extract fans, or fire alarm interfaces
  • Strong electrical fault‑finding and commissioning capability
  • Confident reading fire strategies, engineering drawings, and cause & effect matrices
  • Knowledge of relevant British Standards (BS7671, fire safety regulations, building services standards)
  • Full UK driving licence

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Electrical qualifications (City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Inspection & Testing experience
  • Asbestos Awareness / First Aid
