Responsibilities
- Handle trade counter customers by picking, packing, and processing orders accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain service level criteria, ensuring minimal delay between order receipt and dispatch to maximise sales and stock turnover.
- Resolve customer queries, warranty claims, credits, and complaints to the satisfaction of all parties.
- Identify and collaborate with third‑party distribution providers, anticipating potential issues to ensure smooth order flow and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain close contact with customer‑service staff, understand their working practices and proactively prevent avoidable problems.
- Communicate enquiries to External Sales Engineers to maximise potential sales.
- Provide coverage at the branch/trade counter during unplanned absences.
- Support warehouse activities to achieve product sales and market share in line with company objectives.
- Communicate effectively with the Branch Manager and support the implementation of Goldmine sales procedures.
- Promptly and professionally handle any complaints that fall within direct responsibility.
- Maintain company property to required standards and represent the company in a business‑like manner, observing dress and appearance guidelines.
- Assist with out‑of‑hours services to customers when necessary.
- Participate in the annual stock check.
- Adhere to health and safety duties, co‑operating with management under the Employee Safety Handbook.
- Familiarise with GDPR data‑protection procedures, ensuring no breach of confidential information.
- Perform any ad‑hoc duties as assigned by the Branch Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, or a Director.
Qualifications & Skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. \l • Proven selling skills and comprehensive product knowledge.
- Understanding of company policy to work effectively on the trade counter.
- Willingness to undertake forklift training, culminating in a forklift licence.
- Capability to work short notice and on overtime, with pay at time and a half.
- Adaptability to learn new skills and support the team as required.
Benefits & Compensation
Pay: £18.00 per hour (time and a half) during the 12‑week trial period. After successful completion, wage increases to £36,000 per year, meeting the London living wage.
