Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all tasks are delivered in line with the working-day timetable.
  • Review and approve specific journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and alignment with global accounting policies.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, ensuring proper capitalisation, depreciation, and disposals.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, reconciliation and control processes in partnership with operational teams.
  • Manage lease accounting processes (e.g. IFRS 16), including right-of-use asset and liability calculations.
  • Ensure intercompany balances are reconciled and resolved promptly.

Financial Controls, Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain strong internal control compliance across all financial processes.
  • Oversee balance sheet governance, ensuring reconciliations are completed, reviewed, and fully understood.
  • Ensure compliance with global accounting policies and accounting standards.
  • Support internal and external audits through preparation of schedules, evidence, and responses.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting and systems.

Cashflow, Working Capital & Treasury Support

  • Lead the preparation of the weekly 13-week cash flow forecast with insights into risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor working capital performance, including debtors, creditors and stock.
  • Oversee the AP process, ensuring strong controls, supplier management and approval workflow compliance.
  • Support cash discipline across the organisation, ensuring timely and accurate cash management practices.

Financial Governance & Control

  • Ensure strong financial controls are in place across operational areas, including revenue, cost and margin management.
  • Support operational budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, ensuring accuracy and ownership.
  • Support audit processes and ensure compliance with relevant financial and regulatory standards.
  • Champion continuous improvement in financial processes, systems and reporting.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach and support the finance team to deliver high-quality outputs and meet deadlines.
  • Manage team priorities and workflows, ensuring effective resource allocation.
  • Develop team capability through coaching, training and regular performance feedback.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and collaboration.

Essential Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail.
