Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of pastoral care and behaviour, including elements of attendance and student welfare for a designated Key Stage.
- Line-manage and support pastoral staff, including Assistant Pastoral Leads and Intervention Leads.
- Drive high standards of behaviour, engagement and attendance through effective systems and interventions.
- Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Lead on serious behaviour incidents, ensuring appropriate investigation, intervention and follow-up.
- Monitor and analyse student data to identify trends and implement targeted support strategies.
- Work closely with families, external agencies and stakeholders to support students with additional needs.
- Contribute to whole-school pastoral strategy, policies and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant experience in a pastoral leadership role within a secondary school.
- Proven track record of improving student behaviour, attendance and outcomes.
- A commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for disadvantaged students.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing staff.
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding, student wellbeing and inclusive practice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
