What we're looking for:

  • Attending to pupils' personal care needs (including toileting, changing nappies/pads).
  • Support pupils who cannot help themselves (washing hands, faces, changing pads/nappies, toileting).
  • Physically support learners and push those in wheelchairs and special seating systems.
  • Offer general supervision throughout the school.
  • Maintain a very high standard of hygiene.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively under supervision of the appropriate person and senior management team.
  • Act as a good role model for learners, especially for social skills, independence and play.
  • Record and pass on information to the relevant person (e.g., Senior Lunchtime Supervisor, Class Staff, Leadership team).
  • Support learners in using individual communication systems and visuals.
  • Provide pupils with the opportunity to benefit from a language-rich environment, encouraging communication.
  • Adhere to Manual Handling advice, Health and Safety regulations and all School and Borough policies.
  • Participate in all in-service training sessions (e.g., Safeguarding, Manual Handling, feeding skills, medical needs, foundation training).

Flexibility and additional duties:

  • The Lunchtime Support Assistant is required to be flexible regarding their working hours, by arrangement with the Senior Lunchtime Supervisor/Headteacher/Leadership team on occasions during the school year (e.g., sports day, Christmas lunch, special events).
  • They may be offered additional hours as a Teaching Assistant if desired.

  • School employees are advised to have the Hepatitis B vaccination.
