Role Overview
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Assistant will support day‑to‑day management and administration of the Trust’s financial operations, including ordering, invoice processing, and cash management. The position will be based at Christ Church Academy, Stone, and involves creating and reconciling financial reports, maintaining asset registers, handling cash flow, and providing financial information to senior leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial management information to the Senior Leaders of the Trust.
- Monitor accounting procedures, resolve issues, manage bank accounts, cash flow, assets register, and prepare invoices.
- Collect fees and other dues, including Parent Pay reconciliation, and recover bad debts.
- Prepare final accounts, liaise with auditors, and submit statutory financial returns to DfE and local government agencies.
- Support preparation of preliminary annual budget plans and manage school resources, including sourcing, ordering, and distributing supplies.
- Operate relevant computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PS Financials, Parent Pay, BromCom) and maintain equipment.
- Assist in the management of school trips, activities, and related documentation, including arranging and payment.
- Perform general clerical duties such as switchboard, reception, and shop operation within the school.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons, comply with child protection and safeguarding policies, and support equal opportunities for all.
- Assist teachers with pupil needs as appropriate during the school day.
- Participate in meetings, training, and performance development as required.
Requirements
- Appropriate qualifications and several years of experience in a similar office environment.
- Self‑motivated, driven, and capable of making an immediate impact within a small finance team.
- Knowledge of financial administration and the ability to handle cash management and reconciliation tasks.
- Strong communication skills, ability to liaise with auditors and external agencies, and manage sponsorship or grant applications.
- Experience with financial software such as PS Financials, Parent Pay, and Excel, and ability to use other relevant applications.
- Commitment to safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Experience in support roles that involve multiple stakeholders and departmental coordination.
- Candidate will be subject to a disclosure check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and other statutory checks.
