We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Academy Facilities Manager to join the team at our new satellite centre to ensure our school premises are well‑maintained, safe, and fully operational. As Academy Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and managing the school's facilities to ensure they are safe, welcoming, and fit for purpose. This is an essential role where you'll be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the site, managing preventive preplanned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring health and safety compliance, and supporting the smooth running of school activities and events. Your work will directly contribute to creating a positive learning environment for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage the school site: Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, keep compliance and site records updated, manage utilities, monitor defects, and support inspections and audits.
- Ensure health, safety and security: Implement H&S procedures, carry out regular checks and risk assessments, manage fire safety and emergency procedures, maintain secure site access, and act as key holder.
- Coordinate contractors, cleaning and on‑site staff: Liaise with contractors, ensure safe working practices, oversee cleaning standards, support deep cleans, and monitor the quality and compliance of all site‑based work.
- Deliver day‑to‑day premises operations: Carry out routine repairs, manage heating and lighting systems, maintain outdoor areas, perform porterage duties, support waste management and hygiene tasks, and assist with minibus duties where trained.
- Support whole‑school operations and professional practice: Follow safeguarding and school policies, contribute to school improvement, promote positive conduct and sustainability, support lettings when required, and engage in ongoing training and development.
Key Requirements:
- A recognised training/qualifications associated with caretaking/DIY.
- Driving licence (all new appointments will be required to have a clean, valid driving licence).
- Maths and English GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic site maintenance and good practice in building services, i.e. heating, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, security etc.
- Knowledge of H&S regulations and legislation including COSHH.
- Knowledge of use and storage of CCTV including GDPR.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
