Outwood Academy Hindley are looking to appoint a Lead Learning Manager. This role includes managing our team of 5 Learning Managers who each look after the pastoral and academic progress of a year group in school. The Lead Learning Manager will communicate clear purpose and vision to ensure students have the support they require to maximise their attainment. They will also take a strategic and operational lead for the welfare and safeguarding of our children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • The role of Lead Learning Manager is a key one in the academy and the successful applicant will take a strategic and operational role in ensuring that positive behaviour and attitude is promoted across the academy and that students are following our Positive Behaviour for Learning and Life policy.
  • They will also ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
  • Working under the guidance of the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, the Lead Learning Manager will act as a trusted point of contact for families, coordinate multi‑agency support, and contribute to a strong culture of safeguarding, attendance and inclusion across the school.
  • The successful candidate will act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring that safeguarding training remains current and effective across the academy.
  • They will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to manage safeguarding concerns and referrals, including referring cases of suspected abuse or neglect to children’s social care and supporting staff throughout the referral process.
  • Where appropriate, they will make referrals to Channel, the Disclosure and Barring Service or the police, and will attend and contribute to multi‑agency meetings and strategy discussions.
  • The role also requires the maintenance of detailed, accurate and secure safeguarding records in line with academy policy and statutory guidance.
  • The Lead Learning Manager will also ensure that there are strong safeguarding procedures in place for vulnerable students accessing Alternative Provision with other providers.

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am until 4:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am until 3:30 pm.
