What skills and experience we’re looking for
This will be a key role in the strategic leadership of Northwood Community Primary. Under the direction of the Headteacher and the Deputy Headteacher, the Assistant Headteacher will drive the aims and objectives of the school, proactively lead and manage staff, promote inclusive practice by removing barriers to learning, and support the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.
As a lead professional you will ensure that teaching and learning is inspiring, engaging, and personalised, maximising all students’ potential and empowering them to become enthusiastic and independent learners.
The post includes the role of mainstream SENCO. The successful applicant must have an in-depth knowledge of the four areas of SEND, support staff in the early identification of need, and apply adaptive strategies to mitigate barriers to achievement so that no pupil misses out on their curriculum entitlement. You will be expected to hold, or work towards, the NPQSEND qualification. The position carries part‑time teaching responsibilities of two days per week.
You will liaise with professionals from a range of outside agencies to secure additional support for pupils with diverse needs.
Alongside the core SLT, you will monitor and evaluate the performance of all teaching staff and support the delivery of improvement strategies. The remit of this role may evolve as the post holder gains experience.
We will offer excellent CPD opportunities.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers, and trustees to share this commitment.
