Oakwood Academy is seeking a committed and creative SEND Primary Class Teacher to join our welcoming and inclusive special school community at Silver Street in Irlam. Oakwood Academy is a special school for pupils aged 9–19 years who have a range of moderate and/or complex learning difficulties; we are proud to be part of Kings Academy Trust. Ofsted has judged the school as ‘Outstanding’ in its last four inspections, most recently in January 2024. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils with cutting‑edge facilities in a nurturing environment. The Role

You will lead a Key Stage 2, small class of Year 5 and 6 pupils with diverse SEND needs, supported by experienced teaching assistants. You will plan and deliver an engaging and accessible curriculum that meets the individual needs of your learners, fostering independence, communication, and social skills alongside academic progress.

Responsibilities

  • Be an excellent practitioner with the commitment and motivation to inspire pupils’ learning and development
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation through imaginative and differentiated lessons which meet individual needs
  • Have specific experience or interest in working with pupils with SEND
  • Be able to foster good relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community
  • Have had experience of planning and delivering a wide range of National Curriculum subjects
