The Headteacher of Shoeburyness High School and the CEO of SECAT are seeking to appoint a Deputy Head of Year (2 days a week) across two different year groups. The other 3 days per week you will fulfil the role of Teacher.
You will provide continuous pastoral care and strategic leadership of year groups for part time colleagues, and receive appropriate timetable reductions to allow you to effectively fulfil these duties. As an aspiring Head of Year, this could be the ideal post for you. You will be a charismatic and outstanding teacher and responsible for fostering a culture that enables all students to maximise their potential across the spectrum of school life.
You will be instrumental in our aim to provide every student, regardless of their background, with an outstanding education and real choices in life. This is an integral role in ensuring the academic, personal, social and emotional development of students within the school through the consistent and fair implementation of our values and expectations.
You will work in partnership with a Pastoral Year Manager who is very experienced and knowledgeable in supporting the safeguarding and pastoral needs of their year group. Together you will maintain the highest expectations for your students.
This post would suit colleagues with a strong desire to support and challenge young people. Although we have desirable subjects (Science, Maths, English, Languages) we have no real preference for the subjects that you currently teach, as it is a leadership role. That said, you will need to be a role model in your area of the school in terms of behaviour for learning and student outcomes. Your year group will need to see you as a model professional, to admire and respect you in all aspects of your role in the school.
What the school offers its staff:
- Teachers Pension Scheme
- Benefits Scheme
- Health and wellbeing support
- Access to School Canteen
- Discounted Wraparound School Club
- Commitment to safeguarding
SECAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and visitors to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, medical clearance, and satisfactory references.
