What skills and experience we\’re looking for

Whiteley Primary School has an exciting opportunity for an experienced SENCo to further their career, taking the lead for inclusion at our large, outstanding primary school. As assistant Headteacher, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the senior leadership team and will work closely with the Head and Deputy to ensure the continued development of the school with the specific responsibility to develop inclusive practice. This is a non-class based role, incorporating the specific roles of SENCo and Designated Teacher, and will involve working with pupils and staff across the primary age range to ensure effective provision for vulnerable groups.

The successful candidate will

• Be an excellent communicator – approachable by staff, children and parents
• Be an experienced SENCo, able to motivate others to develop inclusive practice
• Be passionate about overcoming barriers to learning, and supporting individuals to make progress from their starting points.
• Be able to model and support staff to manage challenging behaviours effectively
• Have the confidence and skills to challenge, support and inspire others to achieve their best – staff and children
• Have experience of developing and leading staff, including support staff
• Show commitment to their own professional development
• Be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school
