As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Primary School Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential within an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children with special educational needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and learning disabilities.
- Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement individual education plans (IEPs), education health and care plans (EHCPs), and targeted interventions.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to enhance pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
- Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and achievements, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate.
- Support classroom management and promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist pupils with personal care needs when required, maintaining dignity and safeguarding standards.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to support engagement and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, external professionals, and families to ensure consistent support for pupils.
- Ensure compliance with school safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies at all times.
