We are currently recruiting dedicated and resilient Youth Workers to work full-time within a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) schools across Chorley and Skelmersdale, starting in September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Youth Workers, Support Workers, Sports Coaches, Mentors, or individuals with a background in working with vulnerable young people who are looking to transition into education.
As a Youth Worker within SEN/SEMH schools, you will support students who may have additional learning needs, behavioural challenges, autism, ADHD, or social and emotional difficulties. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships.
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management.
- Encouraging engagement in lessons and school activities.
- Promoting social development, independence and self-confidence.
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider school staff.
- Acting as a positive role model for young people.
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a professional or voluntary capacity.
- Background in youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, care, support work or education is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, resilience and a proactive approach.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
- Ability to travel to schools across Chorley and Skelmersdale.
