Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our York Schools. Full-time and part-time applicants are encouraged to apply, term time only. We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient and reliable candidate who is confident supporting a child with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis. This role requires a strong passion for welfare, education and child development, as well as the ability to build positive and trusting relationships.

Applicants with relevant experience such as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Support Worker, SEN Sport Coach or Healthcare Assistant are encouraged to apply. A minimum of a Level 2 Certificate in Early Years Education or Childcare is an advantage, but not essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a named child, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the child’s individual needs.
  • Support the child’s academic, social and emotional development.
  • Undertake break time and lunch time duties as directed, supporting the child during unstructured times.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. This may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
