Overview

Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN setting in Yeovil for an experienced Key Stage 4 English Teacher to join their committed teaching team on a full-time basis.

This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher who thrives on helping young people overcome barriers to education.

Working with students who require additional support, you will deliver engaging English lessons that develop literacy, communication and essential life skills while preparing learners for their next stage of education.

We are looking for someone with proven experience who is ready to hit the ground running, confidently managing a classroom from the outset and making an immediate positive impact.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality English teaching to Key Stage 4 pupils.
  • Plan creative, differentiated lessons that meet a range of learning needs.
  • Prepare students for GCSE or alternative English qualifications where appropriate.
  • Foster a calm, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Use effective assessment strategies to monitor progress and inform planning.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, reports and EHCP outcomes where required.
  • Encourage independence, resilience and confidence in every learner.
  • Promote positive behaviour through consistent expectations and relationship-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent).
  • Previous experience teaching English, ideally within an SEN or specialist setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of the KS4 English curriculum.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs, including social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Outstanding communication and organisational skills.
  • A flexible, patient and resilient approach to teaching.
  • The ability to settle quickly into a new role and contribute from day one.

This is a full-time position starting in September 2026, although an earlier start may be available for the successful applicant.
