Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a welcoming primary school in Kirkham. This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, with the potential to continue long-term for the right candidate.
The Role:
- Providing 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with SEMH needs
- Assisting in the classroom with tailored learning and behaviour strategies
- Helping the pupil engage positively with learning and develop key emotional regulation skills
- Building a trusting relationship and encouraging progress both academically and socially
- Liaising with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs (in school or a similar setting)
- Calm, nurturing, and resilient personality
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a supportive and consistent way
- Passionate about supporting children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is desirable (training can be provided)
