Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting School Support Staff to work across a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools in the Wigan area. These schools support pupils with a variety of additional needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), learning difficulties, speech and language needs, and behavioural challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are patient, resilient, and eager to support pupils who require a more tailored, hands-on approach to education.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or within small groups
- Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher (Cover Supervisors)
- Implementing strategies to support behaviour and emotional regulation
- Building positive relationships to encourage engagement and trust
- Assisting teachers in adapting lessons to meet individual needs
- Supporting pupils with communication, social skills, and learning development
- Promoting a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Managing challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people (schools, care, youth work, coaching, etc.)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient, and resilient attitude
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable
- Experience working within SEN or alternative provision settings
- Knowledge of autism, SEMH, or behaviour management strategies
- Team Teach or similar training
