Behaviour Intervention Support – Secondary SEMH School

Location: Wigan

Are you passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to learning? Teaching Personnel is working with a specialist SEMH secondary school in Wigan that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This includes students who may experience anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, trauma-related behaviours, attachment difficulties, or challenges with behaviour and social interaction. Many pupils require consistent, patient support to help them engage positively in education and build confidence.

As a Behaviour Intervention Support, you will:

  • Work closely with students both in and out of the classroom, helping them manage behaviour, regulate emotions, and re-engage with learning.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group behavioural support to students.
  • Support students in developing emotional regulation and coping skills.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement.
  • Support students during unstructured times (e.g. breaks, transitions).

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or vulnerable young people (school-based or transferrable experience).
  • A genuine passion for supporting and mentoring young people.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
