Behaviour Support Mentor (Sports Coaching Background) – Bristol Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Long-Term Opportunities Immediate Start | Ideal for Coaches, PE Graduates & Behaviour Support Staff Are you a sports coach or active, hands-on mentor who thrives on building relationships, setting boundaries and bringing out the best in young people? Schools across Bristol are recruiting Behaviour Support Mentors to support pupils with SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour. This is a highly rewarding role where your energy, structure and leadership can make a genuine difference. Your ability to motivate, guide and stay calm under pressure can change a young person’s direction. About the Role You will work with pupils who require consistent support with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in school life. Many of the students respond well to structured routines, positive role models and activity-based learning, making this role ideal for those from a sports background. You will support pupils across the school day, including within the classroom and through more practical or movement-based sessions. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils who need structure and guidance Use coaching-style approaches to motivate and engage students Support pupils to manage behaviour, regulate emotions and stay on track Assist pupils in accessing lessons and building focus Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams Promote discipline, respect, teamwork and resilience Act as a positive role model throughout the school environment Who This Role Suits This role is particularly suited to candidates with backgrounds in: Sports coaching, PE or fitness instruction Behaviour mentoring or SEMH support Youth work, outreach or community roles Residential support or care work Team leadership or group facilitation We also welcome graduates in areas such as: Sports Science / PE Psychology Criminology Education Experience working with young people is essential - school experience is beneficial but not required.
