Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in Weymouth to recruit a part-time Design & Technology Technician to join their team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical, organised individual who enjoys supporting hands‑on learning and helping students thrive in a creative workshop environment. Whether you have experience in education, engineering, manufacturing, construction, or a similar practical setting, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
- Prepare tools, materials and equipment for practical DT lessons.
- Maintain workshop machinery and equipment in line with health and safety requirements.
- Support teachers during practical lessons when required.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and resources.
- Keep workshops organised, clean and safe for staff and students.
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs to equipment.
- Help ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the Design & Technology department.
The Ideal Candidate
- Have experience working with tools, machinery or within a workshop environment.
- Have a good understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Be organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Be proactive and willing to support both staff and students.
- Previous experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential.
