About the Role
We are looking to appoint a Year 2 Teacher to join a primary school in the NG2 area of Nottingham. The role will involve teaching a Key Stage 1 class as pupils prepare for the transition into Key Stage 2. You will be responsible for delivering the Year 2 curriculum, with a particular focus on building confidence in reading, writing and maths ahead of SATs assessments later in the year.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons in line with the KS1 curriculum
- Support pupils in preparing for end-of-Key Stage assessments
- Develop phonics, reading comprehension and numeracy skills
- Create a calm and consistent classroom environment
- Assess, track and report on pupil progress
- Work with teaching assistants to support learning in class
- Communicate with parents and carers when needed
- Contribute to year group planning and wider school activities
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Year 2 experience preferred)
- Good understanding of phonics and early literacy strategies
- Confident classroom management skills
- Ability to plan and adapt lessons for different learning needs
- Reliable, organised and consistent approach to teaching
