Teaching Personnel are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join a successful secondary school in the Waterlooville area, catering to students aged 11 to 16.
The School
The school has a strong and ambitious vision to ensure that the life chances of every young person are enhanced through high-quality teaching and excellent outcomes. Following a 'Good' Ofsted inspection in July 2024, the school is now looking to appoint staff who can help drive further excellence within the Technology department. A full induction programme is in place for new staff, alongside significant opportunities for professional development. Food Technology is a popular and well-established subject, with over 50 students opting to study Food and Cookery at GCSE from Year 9. An interest in teaching GCSE Textiles would also be advantageous. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of Design and Technology at Key Stage 3, covering a range of practical projects that reflect specialisms including Food, Textiles, Engineering and Graphics.
The Role
This is a full-time position starting in September 2026, available on either a temporary or permanent basis, depending on the successful candidate. The role will involve full teaching responsibilities, including planning, marking, and assessment, with teaching across KS3 and KS4. The department is exceptionally well resourced, offering:
- Two fully equipped Food Technology rooms
- A recently enhanced textiles classroom
- A fully equipped engineering workshop for small-scale projects
- A main teaching room with comprehensive IT provision and CAD software
- A laptop provided for every teacher
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualification, with strong subject knowledge in Food Technology or a related Design and Technology specialism. They will demonstrate the ability to deliver engaging, practical, and inclusive lessons that inspire and motivate students of all abilities. A passion for building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues is essential, alongside a commitment to ensuring every learner receives the highest-quality educational experience. An interest in teaching GCSE Textiles would be advantageous, as would a proactive and collaborative approach to contributing to a thriving and ambitious department.
