Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a high‑performing and growing secondary school to recruit a motivated and compassionate Assistant Head of Year to join a well‑established pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about student wellbeing, behaviour, and pastoral care to play a key role in supporting students' personal development and academic success. The position has arisen due to increasing student numbers and offers the chance to join a forward‑thinking school with a strong, inclusive ethos. The successful candidate will work closely with a Head of Year, supporting a designated year group to maintain high standards of behaviour, attendance, punctuality and engagement with learning. The role will involve daily interaction with students, staff and families, ensuring students are fully supported to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Year in delivering high‑quality pastoral care for a year group
  • Promote excellent standards of behaviour, uniform and punctuality
  • Work proactively to improve student attendance, including liaising with parents and external agencies
  • Provide mentoring and intervention for students requiring additional support
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff and families

About You

  • Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
