Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic, approachable, and resilient Teaching Assistant to join one of our SEMH secondary schools in the Warrington area. In this role, you will work closely with a Year 9 class, supporting students with a range of SEMH needs such as anxiety, autism, challenging behaviour, and depression. Your goal will be to help them re-engage with education and develop essential social skills in a supportive and structured environment.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, ensuring they can access learning and remain engaged.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation in line with school policies.
  • Assist in delivering tailored lessons and interventions, adapting resources to meet individual learning styles and needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting observations to teachers and SENCO to inform planning and interventions.
  • Offer emotional and social guidance, helping pupils build resilience, confidence, and positive relationships.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to create a consistent and supportive environment for pupils.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (willing to obtain one).
  • A proactive and resilient attitude.
  • Prior experience of working with SEMH needs.
  • Employment references covering the last 24 months.
  • Full time availability.
