Teaching Personnel is recruiting an experienced Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to join a specialist education setting in Warminster from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced safeguarding professional who is passionate about protecting vulnerable children and young people. Working within a specialist educational environment, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the welfare of pupils, supporting staff and ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of everything the school does.
We are looking for an individual with previous safeguarding experience who can hit the ground running and confidently contribute from day one. This is a fast-paced role requiring excellent organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to build strong professional relationships with pupils, families and external agencies.
As Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and wider leadership team to maintain the highest standards of safeguarding across the school.
Responsibilities:- Supporting the implementation of the school's safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Managing safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance.
- Maintaining accurate, confidential and compliant safeguarding records.
- Liaising with social care, local authorities and other external professionals.
- Attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings where required.
- Providing advice and guidance to colleagues on safeguarding matters.
- Supporting attendance, wellbeing and pastoral interventions.
- Assisting with safeguarding audits and monitoring compliance.
- Promoting a culture where pupils feel safe, valued and supported.
- Previous experience working within safeguarding, pastoral care or child protection.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
- Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
- The ability to remain calm and professional when managing sensitive situations.
- Confidence working collaboratively with families and external agencies.
- A proactive approach and the ability to begin work in September 2026 with minimal supervision.
- Experience within a specialist school, alternative provision or residential education setting would be highly desirable.
