About the Role
- Deliver engaging, tailored lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners with ALN.
- Create a supportive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated.
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including therapists, support staff and specialist practitioners.
- Incorporate sensory activities, communication strategies and therapeutic approaches into daily teaching.
- Support pupils in developing key life skills, independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
- Monitor progress, assess individual needs and adapt teaching methods to ensure every learner thrives.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to promote consistent support and development.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives that enhance the learning experience for all students.
Requirements
- Experience working within a Hearing-Impaired service or a strong willingness to learn.
- Ability to use Makaton (or a commitment to undertake training) is preferred but not essential.
- Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) or eligible to register.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- SEN experience or a genuine interest in developing a career within the SEN/ALN sector.
- Ability to travel to the school and between sites when required.
