Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Firswood to recruit a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) from September. This rewarding role is ideal for a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop essential skills within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN throughout the school day
- Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the child
- Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Implement strategies from Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where applicable
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and achieve learning targets
- Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil and their family
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Record observations and provide regular feedback to teaching staff
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential)
- Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, either in a school or specialist setting
- Knowledge of additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs
- A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- A commitment to inclusion and supporting every child to succeed
- A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
