A friendly and nurturing Welsh‑medium primary school in Tonypandy is seeking a Behaviour Support Worker to join their team and provide support to pupils who may struggle with behaviour, emotions, or social skills.

Your Role
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you’ll work closely with teaching staff and support teams to create a calm, positive environment for learners. You’ll help children build confidence, develop positive behaviour strategies, and feel included in school life. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working 1:1 or in small groups with children needing emotional or behavioural support
- Using play, routine, and positive reinforcement to help pupils manage feelings
- Supporting learning by helping pupils stay focused and engaged
- De‑escalating challenging behaviour in a sensitive and child‑friendly way
- Logging key incidents and contributing to behaviour support plans
- Being a friendly, consistent presence that children can rely on
We’re Looking For Someone Who
- Is fluent in Welsh (spoken and written)
- Is calm, kind, and approachable, even in difficult situations
- Has strong communication skills with young children
- May have experience in youth work, care, childcare, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles
- Understands the emotional and social needs of primary‑aged pupils
- Truly cares about helping children succeed, both emotionally and academically
