About the Role: We are looking for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across multiple educational sites in the NN1 area. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people who require additional support to engage in education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs both 1:1 and in small groups
- Help students regulate behaviour and engage positively in learning
- Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils to encourage progress
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and behaviour management strategies
- Travel between different school locations within the NN1 area as required
- Contribute to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (school or alternative provision preferred)
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain consistent and professional in challenging situations
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car (desirable)
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or Behaviour Mentor
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Psychology, or Youth Work
