Teaching Personnel are working closely with a thriving and community-rooted free school in the Thornaby area to recruit a Cover Supervisor starting in September. About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons to classes in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Support students with their learning and ensure work is completed
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff at the end of the lesson

No formal teaching qualification is required, just strong communication skills, confidence in leading a classroom and the ability to build rapport with students.

  • UK experience working with young people (schools, tutoring, coaching, youth work, etc.)
  • Strong classroom presence and good behaviour management
  • A positive, proactive attitude
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Commitment to supporting students' learning and wellbeing
  • An understanding of SEND needs (such as ASD, ADHD, or SEMH) is advantageous
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one, along with satisfactory background screening
