About the Role
We are recruiting caring and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary and secondary schools in the WN8 area. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Support pupils with a variety of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, both inside and outside the classroom
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver tailored learning support
- Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit individual needs
- Support behaviour management in line with individual education and behaviour plans
- Assist with emotional regulation and help build pupils’ confidence and independence
- Support communication needs, including the use of visual aids or alternative communication methods
- Provide personal care where required (training provided if needed)
- Monitor progress and report back to teaching staff
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (school or similar setting)
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative
- A genuine passion for inclusive education
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
