An alternative provision school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their supportive and nurturing team. The school is committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for children who face challenges in mainstream education. In this role, the Teaching Assistant will work closely with students on a one-to-one basis within the classroom setting. The successful candidate will support learners with both their academic engagement and emotional regulation, helping them remain focused, confident, and ready to learn. Building strong, positive relationships is a key aspect of this role, along with the ability to respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 classroom support, assisting students with their learning and emotional needs.

  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour and promote a positive atmosphere.

  • Participate in relevant training and professional development.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with additional needs, is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Patience, resilience, and a calm, consistent approach to challenging behaviour.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are beneficial but not essential.
