English Teacher – Full-Time – Maternity Cover – June 2026 to June 2027

Are you a dedicated English specialist looking for a rewarding full-time teaching opportunity? A secondary school is seeking a passionate English Teacher to cover a maternity leave from 1st June 2026 to the anticipated end date of 1st June 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident educator to deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role requires a subject specialist, ideally with a relevant qualification, who can take ownership of all classroom responsibilities, including planning, marking, tutor group supervision, and school duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan, prepare, and mark work to support student progress and attainment
  • Manage a tutor group and contribute to pastoral support
  • Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and student engagement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support departmental goals and initiatives

About You:

  • Strong subject knowledge in English (degree-level or equivalent)
  • Ideally qualified in English (QTS desirable but not essential if you are a subject specialist)
  • Confident in classroom management and able to inspire students
