Contract: Full-time, Long-term (Temp to Perm opportunities available)

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) to recruit a passionate, resilient and committed Qualified Teacher to support pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This PRU provides a structured, nurturing and trauma-informed environment for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to behavioural challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety, trauma-related experiences and disrupted schooling. Class sizes are small, allowing for highly personalised teaching and strong relationship-building.

The Role:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, adapted lessons across KS3 and/or KS4
  • Teach a broad curriculum, including core subjects, life skills and personal development
  • Create a safe, calm and supportive learning environment
  • Manage behaviour using positive, trauma-informed and restorative approaches
  • Support pupils to re-engage with learning and build confidence and resilience
  • Deliver learning in small groups and 1:1 where required
  • Follow EHCPs, behaviour plans and risk assessments with support from the wider team
  • Monitor progress, track attainment and provide regular feedback
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, pastoral teams and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching secondary-aged pupils (SEMH or alternative provision desirable but not essential)
  • Be patient, resilient, calm and reflective
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management foundations
  • Be confident adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs
  • Show a genuine commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Be open to training and professional development within SEMH and PRU settings
