Teaching Personnel is working with an aspirational secondary school in Tadley to recruit an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician for a full-time, long-term position. This is an excellent opportunity to become an integral part of a busy Science department, supporting teachers and students with the safe and effective delivery of practical lessons. The role could suit an experienced school Science Technician, laboratory professional, Science graduate or candidate with relevant technical experience who is interested in working within education.

The Role

As a Science Technician, you will support the smooth and safe running of the Science department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing equipment, materials and chemicals for practical lessons
  • Setting up and clearing away experiments across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Checking, maintaining and safely storing laboratory equipment
  • Managing stock and supporting the ordering of resources
  • Ensuring chemicals are labelled, stored and disposed of correctly
  • Supporting teachers during practical activities where required
  • Completing routine maintenance and basic equipment repairs
  • Keeping preparation rooms and laboratories organised
  • Following health and safety procedures, including COSHH guidance
  • Working closely with teachers and departmental colleagues

As this is a long-term position, you will become an established member of the department and build strong working relationships with staff and students.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally:

  • Have experience within a school laboratory, scientific workplace or technical environment
  • Hold a relevant Science qualification or demonstrate strong practical knowledge
  • Be confident preparing equipment and resources for experiments
  • Understand the importance of laboratory safety and accurate record-keeping
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Communicate professionally with staff and students
  • Be adaptable and calm within a busy school environment
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. Applications are also welcomed from science graduates and laboratory professionals with relevant knowledge and a willingness to learn.
