Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and caring PRU Support Assistants to work within a specialist educational setting in the Swansea area. About the Learners
You will be supporting pupils who may face barriers to learning in mainstream education and require a nurturing, structured, and supportive environment to thrive. Learners may present with:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD and attention difficulties
- Anxiety and low confidence
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Challenging behaviour
- Trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
- Engagement and attendance barriers
- Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
These young people benefit from positive role models who can build trusting relationships and help them develop both academically and personally.
Your Responsibilities
As a PRU Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support
- Support pupils to engage positively with learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Help learners develop social skills and confidence
- Assist with classroom-based learning and interventions
- Encourage independence and resilience
- Support pupils during breaktimes and enrichment activities
- Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to meet individual learner needs
