Teaching Personnel are seeking experienced, caring and committed ALN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across secondary schools and specialist ALN provisions in the Swansea and Carmarthen areas. If you are passionate about helping young people with Additional Learning Needs to achieve their full potential, this is a fantastic opportunity to work flexibly while gaining valuable experience and professional development.

The Role

  • You will support pupils with a wide range of ALN needs, including:
  • ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition)
  • ADHD
  • Dyslexia & Dyscalculia
  • PMLD (Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
  • Support may be delivered 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils engage in learning, regulate emotions and access tailored interventions.
  • You will often work from IDPs (Individual Development Plans) or One‑Page Profiles to personalise support effectively.
  • Daily responsibilities may include:
    • Supporting pupils’ learning and classroom engagement
    • Helping pupils with emotional regulation and social development
    • Adapting resources, language and strategies to individual needs
    • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff
    • Ensuring a safe, positive and inclusive environment for all learners

    Requirements

    • Enhanced Child‑Only DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
    • EWC Registration (or willingness to register)
    • Previous experience supporting pupils with ALN (preferred)
    • Health & Social Care or related qualification (desirable)
    • A patient, reliable, and empathetic approach

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
