Teaching Personnel is currently building a pool of experienced Classroom Assistants to support specialist SEN and SEMH provisions across Street and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy the flexibility of supply work while continuing to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of children and young people with additional needs. We work with a variety of specialist settings, meaning successful applicants will have access to numerous placements rather than being limited to one educational provision. Because these assignments are often arranged at short notice, we are looking for professionals who can confidently step into a setting, establish positive relationships quickly and contribute from the moment they arrive.

Responsibilities

  • Providing classroom-based support during lessons
  • Assisting students with Autism, SEMH needs and learning difficulties
  • Encouraging participation in educational activities
  • Supporting communication and social interaction
  • Helping maintain a calm and structured learning atmosphere
  • Reinforcing positive behaviour strategies
  • Supporting personal development and independence
  • Working alongside teaching staff to ensure pupils receive the support they require

Qualifications

  • Previous experience within SEN, SEMH, education, care or youth support settings
  • A flexible and adaptable approach
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed
  • Appropriate qualifications and training for this role
  • Full DBS and enhanced DBS check

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date. Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
