Location: Stoke-on-Trent Start Date: September Contract: Full-time (Initially until Christmas, with likely extension)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Stoke-on-Trent from September. This is a full-time teaching position working with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils with a range of special educational needs.

The role is initially confirmed until the Christmas break, with a strong likelihood of extension beyond this period for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to students with SEN needs
  • Teach a small class of KS3–KS4 pupils with varying abilities and learning profiles
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Develop individual learning plans (IEPs/EHCP targets) and monitor student progress
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals
  • Implement behaviour management strategies effectively and consistently
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and reports

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEN pupils (e.g., ASD, SEMH, MLD, SLD or similar)
  • Strong classroom management skills and a nurturing approach
  • Ability to differentiate learning to meet a wide range of needs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A resilient, patient, and adaptable mindset

Additional Requirements

  • Previous experience teaching in an SEN school or specialist provision
  • Experience with EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Training in areas such as Team Teach, behaviour management, or autism strategies
