We are currently seeking enthusiastic and committed English Literature students or graduates to support pupils in primary schools across Stockton-on-Tees and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on classroom experience while helping children develop essential phonics, reading, and writing skills, and to build experience for a future career in education, teaching, or literacy-based roles.

Location: Stockton-on-Tees & surrounding areas

Position: English Literature Graduate / Student – Primary School Literacy Support

Start Date: Ongoing

Pay: £90–£100 per day (depending on the role)

Shifts: Flexible (full-time or part-time available)

About the Role:

  • Support pupils in primary school settings, both in and out of the classroom
  • Work one-to-one or with small groups to develop phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, and writing skills
  • Assist children who may be struggling with literacy or require additional support
  • Help deliver engaging literacy interventions and classroom activities
  • Encourage confidence, enjoyment, and progress in reading and writing
  • Work closely with teachers and school staff as part of a supportive team

What We’re Looking For:

  • English Literature students or graduates (or related degrees such as English, Creative Writing, or Education)
  • A strong interest in literacy, language development, and primary education
  • A patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with children is beneficial but not essential

This is a fantastic opportunity for English Literature students or graduates looking for flexible, rewarding work in primary schools, while gaining valuable experience supporting children’s early literacy development across Stockton and nearby areas.
