About the RoleAs an English Teacher in a PRU setting, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils with SEMH challenges and complex backgrounds.
- Create a safe, positive classroom environment that promotes emotional well-being and academic progress.
- Manage behaviour effectively, using restorative approaches and positive reinforcement.
- Work collaboratively with support staff and SEN specialists to meet pupils’ holistic needs.
- Track and assess progress, ensuring every student has achievable goals.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and resilience.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching English at secondary level.
- Understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete).
