About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre-set work, ensure students remain on task, and manage classroom behaviour effectively. This is not a teaching role, but strong classroom presence and confidence managing groups of students are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 opportunities available)
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials set by teaching staff
- Ensure pupils remain engaged and complete set work
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Respond to any immediate issues or incidents appropriately
- Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons
- Uphold safeguarding procedures at all times
Who We're Looking For:
- Experience working with young people (schools, tutoring, coaching, youth work, etc.)
- Strong behaviour management and confidence leading a classroom
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, professional, and adaptable approach
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
- Degree-level education is desirable but not essential
- Willingness to travel across Tameside
