SEND Teaching Assistants to work in welcoming secondary schools across Staffordshire, supporting students to reach their full potential both academically and personally.
Whether you have previous school experience or have worked in care, youth work, support work or another SEND setting, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with
Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs.
- Supporting students in accessing the curriculum by adapting activities to suit individual learning styles and abilities.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement within the classroom.
- Assisting students with communication, emotional regulation and social development throughout the school day.
- Supporting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Implementing strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate.
- Working closely with the school's SENDCO, teachers and pastoral team to ensure every student receives the support they need.
- Building positive relationships with students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and celebrate their achievements.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school experience is beneficial but not essential).
- A patient, caring and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
