We are currently recruiting for a Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a busy and welcoming secondary school in St Helens on a temp-to-perm basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and secure environment for students, staff and visitors.
As a Premises Officer, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring the site is well-maintained, secure and fully operational at all times. This role requires flexibility and commitment to a split shift pattern:
- Morning: 6:00am – 10:15am
- Afternoon: 2:45pm – 6:00pm
Please note: This is an all-year-round position (not term-time only).
- Opening and locking up the school site daily
- Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks
- Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, safe and well-presented
- Conducting health & safety checks and reporting hazards
- Setting up rooms for events, exams, and school activities
- Managing deliveries and supporting contractors on site
- Performing security checks, including alarm systems
- Supporting emergency procedures when required
Previous experience in a caretaker, premises, maintenance, or facilities role (preferred)
- A practical, hands-on approach with basic maintenance skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Good understanding of health & safety procedures
- Flexible and committed to split shift working patterns
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
