An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident HLTA to join a Catholic primary school in St Helens from October 2026. We are working alongside a Primary School to recruit a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development. This role is ideal for an experienced HLTA or an Early Career Teacher looking to gain valuable experience across different year groups before securing a teaching post. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning across the school, delivering pre-planned lessons and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential. The position is expected to run for the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent appointment.
The Role
- Deliver lessons during teachers' PPA time
- Provide classroom cover when required
- Support teaching and learning across a range of year groups
- Work closely with class teachers and senior leaders to ensure high standards are maintained
- Assist with targeted interventions for individuals and small groups
- Promote a positive and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds HLTA status or an equivalent qualification
- Alternatively, an Early Career Teacher seeking broader classroom experience
- Has previous experience within a primary school setting
- Demonstrates confidence leading whole-class learning
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
- Has experience supporting children with additional learning needs, although this is not essential
- Is flexible, proactive and able to adapt to different classroom environments
