About the Role

Are you passionate about sport, mentoring young people, and making a real difference? We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist secondary setting. This role is perfect for someone with a keen interest in sports, coaching, fitness, or outdoor activities who can use these interests to engage and motivate learners — particularly those who may present with challenging behaviour. You’ll help pupils build confidence, stay engaged, and develop positive routines both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support
  • Use sport and physical activity to boost engagement
  • Support learning while promoting positive behaviour
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Help implement behaviour management strategies
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff

Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people (especially behaviour support)
  • Has a background or strong interest in sports, coaching, fitness, youth work, or outdoor education
  • Is confident, resilient, and can maintain clear boundaries
  • Naturally takes on a mentor / role model position
  • Brings energy, structure, and consistency
  • Holds (or is willing to get) an enhanced DBS

This role suits people from backgrounds such as sports coaching, personal training, military, youth work, or care work.
