About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Sports Coach to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEN school in Blackpool. The successful candidate will deliver inclusive, engaging, and structured physical activity sessions tailored to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about sport, physical development, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver differentiated PE and sports sessions appropriate to pupils' individual needs and abilities
- Promote physical wellbeing, teamwork, confidence, and positive behaviour through sport
- Adapt activities to ensure accessibility, inclusion, and safety for all pupils
- Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and therapy staff to support EHCP outcomes
- Maintain a safe learning environment in line with safeguarding and health & safety requirements
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to informal assessments and reports as required
Person Specification
- Experience working as a sports coach, PE instructor, or similar role
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach with strong behaviour management skills
- Relevant coaching or sports qualification (e.g. Level 2 or above) preferred
- A good understanding of inclusive practice and child-centred learning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
